Position Summary
The Facility Operator is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the plant's buildings and surrounding grounds. The role involves performing various manual and semi-skilled duties safely, with assignments rotating across different areas. All activities are to be conducted in alignment with Carbo's mission and core values.
Key Duties
- Ensure cleanliness of all plant buildings and outdoor property.
- Carry out manual tasks as assigned by supervisors.
- Support the bagging operations when required.
- Perform additional assigned duties and special projects as directed.
- Operate front-end loader to relocate ore as necessary.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Prior experience in general labor roles.
- Ability to read, write, and understand both written and verbal instructions.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Job requires frequent bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, stooping, squatting, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, and visual observation.
- Moderate to heavy lifting and carrying are essential components of this job.
- Extended periods operating forklifts or warehouse equipment are expected.
- Exposure to moderate noise, vibrations, bright lighting, dust, fumes, gases, and all weather conditions including heat, cold, humidity, rain, and snow.
- Use of standard protective gear such as safety shoes, gloves, glasses, hearing and breathing protection, and hard hats is required when applicable.
- The role can be stressful and demands quick reflexes.
- Must be able to handle items weighing up to 40 pounds, such as wooden skids or pallets.
- Ability to move throughout the facility to perform safety inspections.
- Effective comprehension and adherence to oral and written instructions are necessary.
- Capability to maintain focus despite regular interruptions and exercise independent judgment.
- Clear verbal communication over the phone and with colleagues is essential.
