About the Role

The European Investment Bank (EIB), acting as the EU's financial institution supporting development and cooperation policies, is looking for a full-time Driver to join its Pretoria Representation on a 3-year fixed term contract. This local agent role involves following South African local labor and tax regulations and aligns employment conditions with the local market context.

Key Responsibilities

• Safe transportation of the Head of Office to various meetings and appointments.
• Providing transport services for EIB staff and delegations, both local and from headquarters, including airport transfers and meetings.
• Maintaining the assigned vehicles by identifying faults, performing minor repairs when feasible and communicating issues to the Head of Office.
• Coordinating routine servicing and repairs by taking vehicles to authorized garages.
• Keeping vehicles clean through regular car wash visits.
• Ensuring vehicles are sufficiently fueled, charged, and ready for use at all times.
• Offering support during EIB-hosted events such as Europe Day and cocktail receptions.
• Conducting basic office errands including collection and delivery of materials, letters, and documents as needed.
• Providing limited administrative assistance to the Head of Office and Office Manager if scheduling permits.
• Occasionally driving to other regional locations following EIB travel guidelines.

Candidate Qualifications

• Completed secondary education.
• Possession of a Category B driving license with a clean driving history.
• Minimum of five years relevant driving experience; prior work for governmental or international organizations is a plus.
• Strong defensive driving skills.
• Valid professional driving permit (PrDP).
• Good knowledge of local geography, roads, and customs.
• Experience using basic computer software and communication tools such as Microsoft Outlook and smartphones.
• Proficiency in English language.
• Energetic, proactive, discreet with excellent personal appearance.
• Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge advantageous.
• Professional first aid and passenger security training would be beneficial.
• Experience within international, diplomatic, or multicultural settings is a plus.

Additional Information

This role primarily operates from Pretoria but requires readiness to travel within the region and occasionally to locations in Europe or the EIB headquarters in Luxembourg.
