Role Overview
As a Software Engineer II at Pinterest, you will develop the web platform powering Pinterest.com for hundreds of millions of users and create frameworks and tools that empower engineering teams. We value passionate front-end development, continuous learning, and candid contributions to product improvement. You will tackle complex challenges by leading projects through design, execution, and release stages.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the web platform supporting Pinterest.com and the associated engineering frameworks and tooling.
- Enhance the underlying web architecture, developer experience, build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and testing capabilities to improve engineering productivity.
- Identify and address site-wide challenges through proposing, testing, and delivering effective solutions.
- Collaborate on extensive cross-functional projects to advance the web platform’s capabilities.
- Improve web stability, scalability, performance, and accessibility by implementing advanced web development standards.
- Accelerate the web development cycle by integrating AI agents for large-scale migrations, automating repetitive tasks, and developing AI-powered developer workflows.
- Engage actively in technical design discussions, code reviews, and architectural decision-making processes.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three years experience in web development with strong knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, DOM, HTTP, and web fundamentals.
- Proficiency with React, Redux or similar state management, TypeScript, and testing frameworks like Jest or React Testing Library.
- Experience using build tools such as Webpack, Rspack, or Vite.
- Familiarity with Node.js, server-side rendering techniques, and frameworks including Next.js or Remix.
- Capability to deliver projects spanning multiple teams with mentorship and a keen interest in developer experience, performance, and product quality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate across teams, improve the platform, and advocate platform feature adoption.
- Hands-on experience working with AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) and strategic insight into leveraging AI for migrations, code generation, and workflow automation.
- A passion for web technologies and continuous learning about new trends and best practices in client-side architecture.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

- The role requires occasional onsite presence (1-2 times per quarter) in Ontario to promote collaboration.

Compensation
The salary range for this role in Canadian dollars is between $139,378 and $189,378, dependent on location, experience, travel, and specialized skills.
