Senior Materials Engineer

Job Overview

We are looking for a meticulous and analytical Senior Materials Engineer to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role involves overseeing the selection, testing, and quality assurance of materials used in metro infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will leverage extensive technical knowledge to ensure materials meet strict specifications and performance standards while contributing to operational efficiency and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and choose suitable materials for metro infrastructure considering performance metrics, cost efficiency, and sustainability.
• Perform detailed testing and analysis of materials using laboratory tools and recognized methodologies to verify compliance with project specifications.
• Establish and apply material specifications, testing standards, and quality control processes consistent with international benchmarks and project demands.
• Work collaboratively with design, construction, and procurement teams to address material challenges and enhance material performance.
• Investigate modes of material failure and undertake root cause analysis to implement corrective strategies and avoid recurrence.
• Oversee relationships with suppliers and vendors to guarantee material quality and timely procurement.
• Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, reports, and provide recommendations to stakeholders and management.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory compliance, safety measures, and quality assurance standards in material processes.
• Guide and mentor junior engineers and support initiatives that develop team capabilities.
• Engage in continuous improvement activities aimed at optimizing material handling processes and project results.

Qualifications

• More than 10 years of hands-on experience in materials engineering, with proven abilities in material selection, testing, and quality assurance.
• Deep understanding of material characteristics, behaviors, and performance in construction and infrastructure applications.
• Expertise in operating materials testing equipment and laboratory protocols, including mechanical and non-destructive testing.
• Knowledge of CAD and material modeling software for analysis and design validation.
• Familiarity with international material standards such as ASTM, ISO, or equivalents.
• Demonstrated project management skills, capable of balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving, with a keen eye for detail.
• Competency in technical writing, documentation, and data evaluation.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills allowing effective collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams.
• Preferred qualifications include experience with metro or rail infrastructure projects, material failure analysis, leadership of technical teams, and proficiency with project management software.
