The Policy Shaping Associate Director leads the development and execution of AstraZeneca's policy and advocacy strategies, directly supporting the business unit's portfolio and corporate objectives. Reporting to the Corporate Affairs Director, this position acts as a strategic connector between commercial, medical, regulatory, and government affairs teams to enhance patient access and align with AstraZeneca's mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Acquire and sustain comprehensive knowledge of policy landscapes relevant to AstraZeneca's therapeutic products, staying ahead of emerging trends and regulatory shifts.
- Monitor and analyze legislation, regulations, and advocacy actions to ensure adherence and mitigate risks impacting business interests.
- Design, lead, and assess public policy and advocacy initiatives that promote therapeutic accessibility, reimbursement, and innovation within assigned therapy areas.
- Enhance internal policy-shaping capabilities, ensuring synchronization of national health priorities with therapy-specific goals.
- Align the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's policy strategies with AstraZeneca's global framework and overall corporate affairs objectives.
- Forge and maintain partnerships with key external stakeholders including policymakers, government officials, patient groups, medical societies, NGOs, and industry associations.
- Provide policy expertise to cross-functional teams, supporting regulatory submissions, market access, and product lifecycle management.
- Create impactful policy documents such as position papers, whitepapers, and briefing materials for diverse audiences.
- Track, analyze, and report on policy outcomes to continuously refine strategy and execution.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Possess a Bachelor's degree; advanced degrees such as a Master's are preferred.
- 7 or more years of experience in healthcare policy with demonstrated skills in policy analysis and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and reimbursement environments.
- Excellent analytical aptitude combined with superior communication skills.
- Capability to juggle multiple priorities with a collaborative attitude.
