About Hot Topic and the Role
At Hot Topic, we are fueled by a passion for music, pop culture, and delivering outstanding in-store experiences for both customers and team members. We’re looking to hire an Assistant Manager who will help lead one of our busiest stores in the mall. In this position, you will partner with the Store Manager to meet sales objectives, assist with recruitment efforts, and contribute to the growth and development of our staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Store Manager in meeting sales goals, including sales plans and comparable store sales targets.
- Support recruiting, developing, and retaining a collaborative and enthusiastic store team.
- Promote customer engagement and excitement by marketing new products, leveraging social media, and utilizing services such as Buy Online Pick Up In Store (BOPIS) and curbside pickup.
- Lead store operations by balancing delegation with hands-on involvement and maintaining customer-first sales techniques.
- Manage shrink/loss prevention efforts, monitor payroll hours, and create associate schedules effectively.
- Communicate regularly with retail leadership and headquarters partners regarding trends and customer feedback.
- Analyze sales reports and data to inform strategies that help achieve sales targets.
- Ensure the store is attractively merchandised using planograms and that all promotions are launched promptly.
- Work closely with the Store Manager to build a team of loyal, high-performing, and customer-oriented associates.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years experience managing a retail store.
- Strong leadership skills with a history of guiding teams to success in areas such as communication, recruiting, operations (including payroll, reporting, and scheduling), and employee development.
- Excellent communication, time management, professionalism, and a commitment to nurturing team members.
- High school diploma or GED required; a higher degree is advantageous.
- Ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced retail environment and handle changing situations fluidly.
- Physically able to perform typical retail duties, including merchandise handling and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without accommodation.
Compensation and Additional Information
The hourly wage for this position ranges from $21.50 to $25.80. Final salary offers will depend on factors such as education, location, experience, and training that meet or exceed the minimum job requirements.
