Financial Controller

Overview

We are searching for a seasoned Financial Controller to become part of the senior leadership team of a respected engineering and steel fabrication company located in Tipperary. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role is critical for overseeing the finance division and contributing to the firm's ongoing growth and success.

Key Duties

• Direct the everyday activities of the finance department to ensure smooth operations.
• Compile monthly management accounts and financial summaries for senior leadership review.
• Collaborate with the CFO by providing strategic financial insights and assisting with business planning efforts.
• Lead the processes for annual budgeting and financial forecasting.
• Oversee cash flow management, working capital, and treasury functions.
• Ensure adherence to all regulatory, tax, and statutory obligations.
• Manage the annual audit and coordinate with external auditors, financial partners, and consultants.
• Implement and enhance financial policies, internal controls, and procedures.
• Deliver financial analyses and reporting to guide key business decisions.
• Work with operational divisions to promote cost efficiencies and profitability growth.
• Supervise payroll and the management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger.
• Lead and nurture the finance team, fostering their professional development.
• Continuously seek improvements for financial processes, system efficiencies, and reporting capabilities.

Candidate Requirements

• Holds a recognized accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or a comparable credential.
• Has substantial experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar senior role.
• Background in engineering, manufacturing, construction, or project-driven sectors is highly preferable.
• Proficient in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow oversight.
• Demonstrates strong commercial insight and effective business partnership skills.
• Thorough knowledge of financial governance and internal control frameworks.
• Experienced in leading and developing finance personnel.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP software.
• Excellent communication skills with strong stakeholder management capabilities.
• Self-driven and practical approach capable of thriving in a dynamic and fast-moving environment.
