Financial Controller / Manager

About the Role

Join a global agricultural commodities trading enterprise as the pioneering leader of the finance department for its new Ghana branch. This role demands a proactive Finance Manager or Head of Finance to construct and oversee the full spectrum of financial operations including treasury, compliance, reporting, and controls for the Ghana commodity trading business.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting processes and reporting, managing month-end and year-end closures, audits, and communication with headquarters.
• Administer treasury functions including cash flow management, international payments, handling foreign exchange risks related to GHS/USD, letters of credit, trade financing, and maintaining banking partnerships.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, evaluate profitability and margins per commodity or trading contract, and track overall financial performance.
• Ensure adherence to Ghana Revenue Authority regulations, VAT guidelines, corporate and income tax obligations, IFRS standards, and Bank of Ghana’s foreign exchange policies.
• Implement strong internal financial controls and lead the accounting and administrative staff locally.

Candidate Profile

• Possesses a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Management, or holds equivalent professional certifications such as ACCA, ICAG, or an MBA in Finance.
• Brings over five years of relevant experience, ideally in commodity trading, international trade, or the agricultural food sector.
• Well versed in Ghanaian taxation laws, Bank of Ghana foreign exchange requirements, and international financial reporting standards.
• Experienced with trade finance mechanisms including Letters of Credit (LC), Standby Letters of Credit (SBLC), and understanding of Incoterms.
• Highly skilled in ERP systems, advanced Excel functions, financial reporting, and data analysis.
• Fluent English communication skills and capability to work autonomously in a dynamic trading environment.
