Key responsibilities
In this position, you will manage regional dispatch and transport activity, support compliance, and lead a small team to deliver excellent service and operational outcomes.
- Direct the daily transport function across the Hawke's Bay area so deliveries and collections stay on schedule.
- Coordinate site activity with transport movements and linehaul timing.
- Protect goods and assets by enforcing security controls such as vehicle seal procedures.
- Drive safe and efficient operations while meeting legal obligations and site rules, including health and safety, fatigue management, and loading restrictions.
- Track freight billing accuracy and ensure customer service standards are maintained.
- Carry out routine compliance and security checks, then investigate and close out any issues identified.
- Work with the team to meet customer KPIs and internal performance goals.
- Contribute to continuous improvement work and support operational audit activities.
- Keep costs controlled within budget and assist with planning and performance tracking for the site.
- Lead, coach, and support a small team, building engagement, safety awareness, and ongoing development.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will bring leadership strength, logistics knowledge, and the ability to stay organised in a busy environment.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to motivate, influence, and gain commitment from people at different levels.
- Solid logistics background, including at least 3 years of Class 5 truck driving experience and the capability to operate heavy vehicles when needed.
- Strong people skills with the ability to build relationships, negotiate well, and influence stakeholders effectively.
- A history of maintaining high operational standards and improving performance over time.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle several priorities professionally and efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
