Role Overview
The position is a full-time Design and Estimation Engineer based in Doha, Qatar, offering a hybrid working arrangement with some work-from-home flexibility. Responsibilities include creating design concepts, technical drawings, and specifications suited to civil and industrial projects. The engineer will prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ), conduct project cost estimations, and assist with cost proposals and tender documentation. Daily activities involve collaboration with project managers, suppliers, and contractors, performing site visits as necessary, and ensuring all outputs comply with applicable standards and client expectations. Additionally, ongoing research into materials, construction methods, and market pricing is required to ensure design solutions are accurate, competitive, and sustainable.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong expertise in project estimation, BOQ preparation, cost analysis, and quantity calculations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of civil engineering principles, design processes, construction methodologies, and relevant codes and standards.
- Effective negotiation skills to liaise with vendors, subcontractors, and stakeholders regarding pricing and technical clarifications.
- Research aptitude to collect technical data, market insights, and cost benchmarking to support innovative and precise solutions.
- Possession of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in design and estimation software, including AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and other industry-standard tools.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving capabilities with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Fluent communication skills in English, both written and verbal; familiarity with regional practices in Qatar or the Gulf Cooperation Council is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and adapt to a hybrid work environment.
- Experience in infrastructure, industrial, or oil & gas sector projects is preferred.
