Role Overview

As a Database Administrator at Air Apps, you will oversee the management, performance optimization, and security of intricate, large-scale databases. Collaborating closely with engineering teams, your work will involve developing and maintaining resilient, scalable database infrastructures that power the AI-centered platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and sustain high-efficiency database systems supporting extensive applications.
• Enhance database efficiency by optimizing queries, indexes, and partition schemes.
• Continuously monitor database health to ensure availability, scalability, and recovery capabilities.
• Administer and fine-tune both SQL and NoSQL database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, and DynamoDB.
• Enforce security measures including encryption, access control, and compliance safeguards to protect sensitive data.
• Automate backup routines, replication processes, and failover solutions.
• Partner with development teams to refine query performance, schema structures, and data models.
• Conduct capacity planning and analyze growth trends for databases.
• Guarantee adherence to data governance regulations including GDPR.
• Keep abreast of emerging database technologies and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of four years experience as a Database Administrator or comparable role.
• Proficient with relational database systems like PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server and NoSQL platforms including MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, or DynamoDB.
• Strong skills in database optimization tactics encompassing indexing, partitioning, and data replication.
• Experienced in troubleshooting and tuning slow or complex queries.
• Knowledgeable about backup, recovery mechanisms and disaster preparedness for databases.
• Familiar with cloud database services such as AWS RDS, Aurora, Google Cloud Spanner, and Azure SQL.
• Competent in scripting languages like Python, Bash, and SQL for automating database operations.
• Awareness of data security protocols, encryption methods, and compliance frameworks.
• Experience managing voluminous, complex datasets and high-traffic database systems.
• Ability to collaborate with DevOps for database integration within CI/CD pipelines.
