About Cisco Software Solutions (CSS)

CSS serves as the software development division within Cisco's Collaboration Platform organization, focused on creating and sustaining platforms and associated tools that enable our products and user base to excel.

The environment encompasses both legacy and new systems, aiming to replace fragmented platforms with a unified solution. The landscape includes a mix of older tools and cutting-edge innovations that enhance our platform's offering, presenting complexities in various stages of the lifecycle.

Team and Working Environment

Our newly formed team is dedicated to fostering consistency, reliability, and improved observability across our systems. We are a geographically distributed and diverse group of developers with an operational focus, collectively aimed at simplifying the management and operation of virtualized and containerized workloads for our users and operators.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will collaborate with the broader organization to mature and unify our platforms. Responsibilities include lifecycle automation, improving operability and observability, consolidating or decommissioning tools, and developing new features for tenants and operators. Agentic AI tools will be heavily integrated into daily workflows.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline
  • At least 3 years of professional experience as a developer familiar with operational aspects
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with public or private cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, OpenStack, or OpenShift
  • At least 1 year working with containerization or virtualization technologies like Docker
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with CI/CD pipelines or DevOps methodologies

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Familiarity with Agentic AI development tools (e.g., Claude CLI, Codex, Copilot, OpenCode)
  • Proficiency in programming languages including Python, Golang, Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript
  • Experience using lifecycle and deployment tools such as Ansible or Terraform
  • Knowledge of network and Linux system administration, especially Linux networking
  • Designing, implementing, and operating distributed software systems
  • Operational experience in infrastructure or service at scale
  • Understanding of HTTP, REST APIs, and DOM
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization and container technologies including Docker
  • Management and operations knowledge of OpenStack or Kubernetes platforms
  • Familiarity with infrastructure management tools like Intersight and UCS Manager

Cultural Fit

Applicants with a growth mindset eager to contribute effectively to team success and improve CSS's excellence are highly valued.
