About 3DE Global
3DE Global is a structural steel detailing firm with offices across Australia, USA, Middle East, and Tiruchirappalli, India. They specialize in creating Tekla Structures models, shop and erection drawings, and material take-offs for fabricators serving mining, ports, industrial, energy, and data center sectors. Their quality has been recognized by winning Tekla BIM Awards in 2021 and 2023. The company integrates AI tools within workflows to elevate output but decisions, modeling steel, and sign-offs remain human responsibilities.
Role Overview
As a modeller, you will construct structural steel models using Tekla Structures from engineering plans, apply connections from validated component libraries, and generate fabrication and erection drawings destined for overseas workshops. You will collaborate within project teams comprising senior modellers and checkers, performing self-verification of your work prior to submission.
Key Duties
- Create models of members, connections, and fittings according to client standards and internal procedures in Tekla Structures.
- Produce and revise shop drawings, general arrangement drawings, and various reports.
- Initiate RFIs when design information is unclear instead of making assumptions.
- Self-review outputs using comprehensive checklists before passing to team members.
- Utilize AI and automation tools provided, giving feedback on their effectiveness.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 4 years of experience modeling structural steel projects using Tekla Structures.
- Proficient in interpreting structural and architectural drawings and understanding steel fabrication and erection processes.
- Working proficiency in English, both written and oral, suitable for RFIs and client communication.
- Familiarity with detailing standards from Australia, US, UK, or Middle East is a plus but not mandatory.
- An eager mindset towards adapting to new tools and evolving job requirements.
Work Environment and Processes
Every produced drawing undergoes self-checking followed by a secondary independent review prior to release. The organization operates under documented procedures defined in their Quality Management System (QMS), encouraging team members to actively use, challenge, and improve the tools in place.
Location and Hours
This position is full-time and based at the Tiruchirappalli office, supporting projects across Australia, USA, UK, and Middle East.
