About the Company and Role

Qualcomm Technologies International Ltd is seeking a GPU Design Verification Engineer to join their ASICs Engineering team in Cambridge, UK. The role focuses on the architecture, design, implementation, and verification of GPU cores, ensuring that the performance and power targets are met through both pre- and post-silicon validation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage independent tasks aligned with program requirements and deadlines.
  • Communicate key information about daily activities clearly to knowledgeable colleagues using both verbal and written means.
  • Apply creative problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and novel issues.
  • Conduct research utilizing available resources and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for effective troubleshooting and diagnosis.
  • Architect and verify GPU hardware, drivers, features, applications, and tools using graphics expertise.
  • Develop and maintain verification environments and test benches based on System Verilog and UVM methodologies.
  • Design advanced testing frameworks to simulate real-world system integration scenarios.
  • Work cooperatively with architecture, software, firmware, design, modeling, emulation, and post-silicon teams to establish test methods and content.
  • Participate in GPU architecture and micro-architecture review sessions.
  • Plan, organize, and execute diverse system-level tests including directed test cases, gaming benchmarks, compliance suites, and scenario testing.
  • Implement automation for continuous integration and testing aligned with the newest GPU IP.
  • Analyze test results using elementary statistical methods and predictive data analysis to monitor benchmarks and recognize problems.
  • Collaborate closely with teammates to align feature development goals and meet deadlines.
  • Document technical details and feature descriptions thoughtfully under supervision.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or related field with at least 4 years of ASIC design or verification experience; alternatively, a Master’s degree with 3 years or a PhD with 2 years of relevant work in ASIC design, verification, validation, or integration.
  • Preferred: Over 5 years’ experience in hardware, software, or systems engineering fields.
  • Proficient in verification skills such as test planning, scripting, simulation, and debugging.
  • Hands-on experience with System Verilog, UVM, Verilog or VHDL, and C/C++.
  • Knowledge of constrained random testing, functional coverage methodologies, and design debugging.
  • Familiarity with emulation and prototyping platforms including Veloce, Palladium, and Zebu, and FPGA development.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar domain is advantageous.
  • At least 2 years GPU-specific experience in internal or external roles.

Preferred Skills

  • Expertise in GPU verification methodologies.
  • System or subsystem-level verification experience.
  • Knowledge of concurrency, preemption, and stress testing frameworks.
  • Competence in testbench architecture and implementation.
  • Exposure to GFX APIs such as Vulkan, DirectX 11, and DirectX 12.
  • Scripting and automation skills using languages/tools like Python, Make, and Airflow.
  • Experience with embedded firmware development and debugging.
  • Benchmarking and performance analysis capabilities.
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux kernel architectures.
  • Skillful with C/C++, GNU toolchain, and Visual Studio environments.
  • Background in formal verification (FPV and DPV) a plus.
  • Experience with emulation/prototyping/hybrid workflows including Veloce, Palladium, Zebu, Protium, HAPS, and QEMU.
  • Development of synthesizable components for emulation platforms such as transactors, monitors, and scoreboards.
  • Embedded firmware and kernel-level driver development and debugging skills including usage of tools like gdb, uboot, uefi.
