Job description
Role Overview
The Automation Engineer L4 is tasked with designing, programming, simulating, and testing automation products or processes to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand software requirements and contribute to product design.
- Analyze current technology architectures, including system interdependencies and application stacks.
- Collaborate with project management to develop detailed project plans and progress them for approval.
- Consult with stakeholders regularly to understand operating procedures and ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Research and innovate automation solutions to improve automation roadmap design and testing methodologies.
- Maintain and enhance automation frameworks for cross-technology utilization, building reusable libraries for different business verticals.
- Design and execute software development and reporting activities.
- Prepare for test executions by designing test plans, cases, scenarios, and usage cases, and carry out testing accordingly.
- Develop technical specifications and resolve complex design challenges.
- Engage with development teams in design activities for both functional and non-functional automation testing requirements.
- Track and report key metrics to ensure comprehensive automation coverage of all requirements.
- Own the testing and validation of code to eliminate errors.
- Maintain a defect tracking database, including problem resolutions and mitigation strategies.
- Proactively research and provide solutions for issues encountered during automation development.
- Create and update automated testing tools to ensure effectiveness and accuracy.
- Develop programs that comply with organizational standards by applying best practices, using documented design patterns, and referencing relevant materials.
- Maintain clear communication with customers and internal teams to facilitate smooth operations.
- Work within Agile teams to understand product vision and backlog, developing robust automation tests for functional, regression, and performance areas.
- Assist in defining acceptance criteria for user stories and maintain a test automation backlog.
- Collaborate with development teams to enhance continuous deployment via strategy development, process formalization, and tooling support.
- Partner with business subject matter experts to capture requirements and deploy automated applications.
- Document projects comprehensively following organizational guidelines to ensure long-term maintainability.
- Provide support and guidance to testers and support staff to identify and resolve system issues.
- Perform backend and database programming as needed for key projects.
- Stay current with industry standards and integrate them appropriately into automation practices.
