Job description
Role Overview
This position involves moving trailers between loading and unloading doors and around the yard. The Switcher may also handle packages manually, including physically loading, unloading, and sorting packages by lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, and placing them safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport trailers to and from unload/load doors and throughout the yard.
- Manually handle packages through lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, and placing.
- Load and unload packages on delivery vehicles, trailers, conveyor carts, and load gratings.
- Scan packages, read labels and charts to determine the correct conveyor system for sorting, verifying numbers, and memorizing information.
- Operate safely and efficiently throughout shifts of two to four hours of continuous manual package handling.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum six months of experience as a package handler or in switching/CDL operating preferred.
- In Quebec, bilingual proficiency in French and English is mandatory.

This job posting is active from August 31, 2026, to September 8, 2026, with a full-time Switcher position available for OB & OTB shifts at YELA. Candidates must meet performance standards for tests and training, work in a Windows environment, maintain annual certifications if applicable, and be available for different shifts based on operational needs.
Applicants for driving-related roles must hold a valid license (e.g., class 5, G, or 1[AZ]) and have no more than two infractions or accidents within the previous 24 months. Candidates will be assessed through driving records, interviews, and driving evaluations.
