Software Engineer (Java Backend)

Overview

We are looking for a skilled Java Backend Developer to join our team in Singapore. The role involves crafting microservices and event-driven systems utilizing Kafka, deploying applications on Microsoft Azure, and designing efficient PostgreSQL database schemas. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable APIs, optimize performance, and ensure production stability through rigorous engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and develop backend services in Java following microservices architectural patterns.
• Create and manage RESTful APIs and integrate various services.
• Implement messaging and event streaming solutions utilizing Apache Kafka.
• Deploy, operate, and tune cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure.
• Design PostgreSQL databases including schema, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Engage in code reviews, automated testing, and release management.
• Diagnose and resolve issues in production environments, performing root cause analysis.
• Document technical processes, service designs, and API specifications thoroughly.

Candidate Requirements

• Proficient in Java backend development with emphasis on clean and maintainable code.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and inter-service communication.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs with attention to versioning and reliability.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure for application deployment and management.
• Familiarity with Apache Kafka for event-driven messaging and streaming applications.
• Skilled in PostgreSQL schema design, query development, and performance tuning.
• Capability to troubleshoot and address challenges in both development and live production scenarios.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineering and product teams.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Spring Boot and the Spring framework.
• Exposure to container technologies and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of observability tools including logging, metrics instrumentation, and tracing.
