Senior Software Engineer - Supply Chain & Customer Experience

Overview

We seek a seasoned Software Engineer to design, develop, and test scalable, high-performance applications for Walmart's International operations, serving millions of customers worldwide. The focus areas include supply chain management and enhancing the customer experience.

About the Team

This role collaborates globally across Walmart International, an entity operating over 5,900 retail outlets across 26 countries and 55 banners including locations in Africa, Argentina, Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Japan, and Mexico.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop, unit test, and maintain scalable applications addressing supply chain and customer experience requirements.
• Engage in designing software solutions with a strong emphasis on coding best practices and performance optimization.
• Participate actively in Agile (Scrum) processes and contribute to program planning and execution.
• Translate high-level system designs into low-level detailed designs and provide effort estimations.
• Lead prototype development and technical solution innovation.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferably in Computer Science or related technical disciplines.
• At least 6 years of strong experience in object-oriented programming with Java, including building web services using Java and Spring Boot frameworks.
• 5+ years of software development experience encompassing systems design, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Proficiency in either Java or Python programming languages.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases (SQL), NoSQL databases, and distributed or replicated caching technologies.
• Demonstrated expertise with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, or Amazon Web Services.
• Exposure to data processing tools like Apache Spark, Airflow, and Scala is advantageous.
• Strong capabilities in CI/CD practices and automation tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, alongside interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Ability to quickly adapt to change and drive transformative initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in IT or related fields, or experience leading cybersecurity projects.
• Knowledge in digital accessibility best practices, including Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards and assistive technologies.
• CISCO Information Technology certification is a plus.
