About Neara and the Role
Neara is pioneering the use of advanced machine learning to create physics-based digital replicas of electricity grids worldwide, enabling asset owners to simulate extreme weather events and identify risks across millions of kilometers of infrastructure. Our mission is to enhance the resilience of global power networks through innovative AI solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement machine learning models to accurately reconstruct electrical networks from imperfect datasets using deep learning and classical ML techniques.
- Develop and optimize training pipelines to minimize manual effort and accelerate the transition from concept to evaluation.
- Scale model deployment efficiently for diverse problems, decreasing the time from initial model development to production readiness.
- Enhance model quality assurance processes by accelerating testing and detecting data or distribution shifts.
- Handle diverse data types such as LiDAR, aerial imagery, photogrammetry, and GIS while creating scalable pipelines for training and serving models.
- Provide mentorship and guidance on best practices in model training and software engineering to junior team members.
Preferred Qualifications and Attributes
- Demonstrated expertise in machine learning and deep learning methodologies.
- Solid foundation in software engineering principles and practices.
- Proficiency with ML frameworks including PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities especially when tackling novel domains.
- Capability to collaborate asynchronously and cross-functionally on complex and poorly defined problems.
- Self-driven and proactive approach to problem ownership and challenge resolution.
