About the Role
We are representing a growing contractor in Queenstown, New Zealand, seeking a Project Engineer specializing in drainage projects. This newly created position offers a chance to work with a company well-established as a leading contractor in drainage and land development within the region. The company has secured a substantial pipeline of work and aims to expand its team accordingly.
This role involves exposure to technically challenging drainage construction, primarily working with skilled in-house crews rather than subcontracting. The successful candidate will be site-based, providing direct support to the crew to ensure outstanding project outcomes. Leadership is hands-on at the director level, offering guidance and opportunities for career advancement and increased responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering and commercial aspects of projects from planning to successful completion.
- Develop and implement construction methodologies and work schedules that enhance productivity.
- Oversee project performance by tracking costs and progress.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with project specifications.
- Manage contracts, maintain project documentation, and ensure timely processing of variations and progress claims.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities, delivering proactive solutions to boost project efficiency and profitability.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, local authorities, and stakeholders through clear communication and collaborative problem-solving.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility, ensuring adherence to company standards.
