Job description
Role Overview
Join a leading global manufacturer specializing in high-precision orthopedic medical devices as a Metrology Engineer. This pivotal role focuses on managing and enhancing measurement systems, inspection technologies, and dimensional validation procedures crucial to medical device quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate specialized metrology and inspection fixtures tailored for precision components.
- Create, refine, and sustain MicroView software programs for Micro-Vu optical Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
- Establish efficient, repeatable automated inspection routines for complex machined parts.
- Lead comprehensive Measurement System Analysis activities, including Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R), bias, linearity, and stability assessments.
- Utilize statistical tools such as Minitab to assess process capabilities and measurement system performance.
- Interpret engineering drawings and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) standards in line with ASME Y14.5.
- Provide support for First Article Inspection (FAI), process validation, and new product introduction initiatives.
- Develop and upkeep inspection methodologies, work instructions, and validation records.
- Drive continuous improvement projects aimed at automation, metrology technology advancements, and process optimization.
- Ensure adherence to ISO 13485 standards, FDA regulations, and internal Quality Management System protocols.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years' professional experience in precision metrology or quality engineering roles.
- Proven expertise in programming Micro-Vu systems with MicroView software.
- In-depth knowledge of optical and tactile CMM inspection techniques.
- Experience in designing effective metrology and inspection fixtures.
- Strong grasp of GD&T and dimensional analysis principles.
- Hands-on experience conducting Measurement System Analysis and Gage R&R studies.
- Competent in performing statistical analysis using Minitab software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
