Job description
Role Overview
The Master and Reference Data Management Consultant plays a critical role in implementing and optimizing enterprise-wide master and reference data initiatives. This position ensures data accuracy, consistency, and governance across essential business data domains by leveraging master and reference data management platforms effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain solutions for Master Data Management (MDM) and Reference Data Management (RDM) within the organization.
- Oversee and govern master data domains including Customers, Products, Suppliers, Vendors, Assets, and other Reference Data entities.
- Establish and enforce standards for master data, including business rules, governance protocols, and stewardship guidelines.
- Configure and administer MDM and RDM platforms, including workflows, matching logic, survivorship criteria, and hierarchy management.
- Develop and manage processes for creating Golden Records, resolving entity identities, harmonizing data, and consolidating records.
- Analyze and profile data, conduct cleansing, enrichment, and remediation to enhance master data quality.
- Support data governance initiatives related to data ownership, stewardship, metadata handling, and regulatory compliance.
- Design and implement data integration mechanisms between source systems, MDM platforms, and downstream applications.
- Track and report on master data quality metrics, governance KPIs, and compliance status.
- Engage with business stakeholders, data owners, stewards, and technical teams to ensure data management aligns with enterprise goals.
- Produce technical documentation, data standards, operation procedures, and governance artifacts.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts to elevate master data quality, uniformity, and governance maturity levels.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, IT, Engineering, or related areas.
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) in Master & Reference Data Management.
- Certification pertinent to the designated MDM/RDM platform or governance component.
- Additional certifications in Data Governance, Data Management, or Enterprise Data Architecture are a plus.
Experience
- At least five years of experience in Master Data Management, Reference Data Management, Data Governance, or Enterprise Data Management roles.
- Proven practical experience managing enterprise master data domains and governance processes.
- Demonstrated success implementing MDM/RDM tools, workflow automation, and governance frameworks.
- Experience supporting data quality initiatives and enterprise data management programs.
Core Technical Skills
- Expertise in Master Data Management (MDM) and Reference Data Management (RDM) principles and practices.
- Knowledge of Golden Record creation and entity resolution techniques.
- Proficiency in data harmonization, record consolidation, and data governance frameworks.
- Skilled in data stewardship, data ownership models, data profiling, cleansing, and remediation strategies.
- Experience with data integration, metadata management, data lineage, business rules, matching and survivorship logic.
- Capability in MDM/RDM platform configuration, development, and administration.
- Competent in data quality monitoring, compliance reporting, and SQL for data analysis.
- Ability to implement technical controls for MDM/RDM processes and governance.
Minimum education
Bachelor's Degree
