Overview
This role offers an impactful career opportunity where you will push the boundaries of technology possibilities. As a Lead Software Engineer within the Commercial and Investment Bank division, you will architect scalable, resilient, and ultra-low-latency systems that provide electronic market access across various asset classes. You will work on the connectivity platform linking algorithmic and market-making engines to major global exchanges, driving enhanced execution speeds, risk control, and client solutions.
Key Duties
- Lead technical teams, contractors, and vendors by setting standards and offering guidance to develop robust and reliable solutions.
- Develop and maintain secure, high-caliber C++ production code including code review and debugging to ensure adherence to quality and stability benchmarks.
- Influence product design and technical operations to improve latency, throughput, and system reliability.
- Act as a subject matter expert in electronic trading architecture, low-latency systems, and performance engineering.
- Promote best practices in software frameworks, tools, and SDLC processes across the firm to enhance engineering excellence.
- Steer decisions on the adoption of advanced technologies that advance the business goals.
- Foster a diverse and inclusive team culture grounded in respect and equity.
- Lead the integration of enterprise-approved AI-assisted engineering practices covering code review, test acceleration, and incident analysis while enforcing secure coding and automated test validation.
- Utilize SDLC toolchain capabilities, including AI and automation, to maximize development automation benefits.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 6 years' experience specializing in low-latency design and development with C++ and C, emphasizing performance tuning and deterministic system behavior.
- Advanced expertise in C++ supported by formal training or certification.
- Proven experience delivering system designs, applications, testing strategies, and ensuring operational stability in production environments.
- Proficiency with C++ on Unix/Linux platforms, including performance diagnostics and relevant tooling.
- Scripting capabilities for automating development, testing, and operational workflows.
- Comprehensive understanding of the interplay between software and hardware in low-latency environments.
- Experience in creating and automating functional and non-functional test strategies and executing them.
- Strong foundation in application, data, and infrastructure architecture principles.
- Solid computer science fundamentals such as multithreading, memory management, and object-oriented design.
- Collaborative approach working effectively with application development, business analysis, and operations teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with FIX and binary communication protocols and knowledge of market microstructure.
- Experience with low-latency connectivity in FX, Commodities, Rates, Credits, Futures, and Options markets including venues like LME, Eurex, CME.
- Understanding of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and cloud infrastructure environments.
