Role Overview

This role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining distributed data pipelines and architectures while implementing best software engineering practices.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, build, and support scalable and reliable distributed data systems and pipelines.
• Develop data pipelines and optimize storage and retrieval methods to improve performance.
• Ensure robustness and scalability of the data infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data requirements and troubleshoot issues.
• Advocate for and implement software engineering best practices such as testing, CI/CD, and version control to maintain system quality.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Over 7 years of demonstrated experience designing and implementing robust, scalable distributed data systems and pipelines using open-source and cloud technologies.
• Proficiency with data orchestration tools like Apache Airflow and Dagster.
• Experience with big data storage and processing tools such as DBT, Spark, SQL, Athena/Trino, Redshift, Snowflake, and relational databases including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures and streaming platforms like Apache Kafka, Kafka Streams, and Apache Flink.
• Experience working within public cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) and infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.
• Strong grasp of software engineering practices, including unit testing, continuous integration/delivery (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), agile methodologies, git/version control, and containerization.
• Excellent leadership capabilities, analytical problem-solving, and effective communication skills.
• A passion for keeping current with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering.
