Senior Android Developer

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Android Developer to take the lead in architecting and building secure, high-performing Android applications as part of an extensive modernization effort. You will collaborate closely with quality assurance, product management, and program teams to deliver scalable and maintainable Android solutions while guiding technical direction and promoting best practices within the team.

This is a predominantly onsite role requiring presence four days a week in Dublin.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain top-quality Android applications leveraging Java and Kotlin, adhering to modern architectural patterns.
• Make informed design choices prioritizing scalability, maintainability, and security.
• Integrate Android apps with external services, SDKs, and device capabilities such as hardware features, secure storage, and network services.
• Implement secure coding standards to comply with regulations and support quality assurance through unit and integration testing, and defect resolution.
• Participate in code reviews, respond to audit findings, and troubleshoot issues from internal or external sources.
• Assist in migrating legacy Android codebases to modern architectures through modularization and improved component reuse while ensuring system stability.
• Optimize performance aspects like app responsiveness, memory management, and startup times, and implement monitoring and diagnostic tools for production support.
• Contribute to automation efforts including continuous integration and delivery pipelines, automated build, test, and deployment workflows.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, mentor junior developers, and engage in post-release analysis and root cause investigations.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Advanced hands-on experience developing Android applications using Java and Kotlin.
• Familiarity with modern Android development tools, architectures, and build systems.
• Knowledge of secure application development principles and best practices.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines for Android projects.
• Proficient with Android Studio, Gradle, Git, and continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Skilled in debugging complex issues on physical devices and analyzing logs in challenging environments.
• Exposure to financial services, fintech, or regulated industries is a plus, especially relating to payment systems and compliance-driven development.
