Role Overview
As a Manager, Payroll Operations for the APAC region, you will lead the payroll chapter within Remote’s Global Payroll Operations team. This role offers a chance to significantly impact global employment management by overseeing payroll functions, managing teams, and maintaining international compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the Payroll Operations team, ensuring they have guidance and support.
- Maintain complete ownership of payroll processes, delivering timely, precise, and compliant payroll handling tailored to country-specific regulations.
- Act as the central liaison for any payroll-related interactions between internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Stay informed of international payroll laws and regulatory changes.
- Manage ongoing collaborations with payroll, accounting, and third-party payroll providers.
- Develop and enforce best practices, establish KPIs, and define SLA metrics to enhance team productivity and service quality.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Robust experience managing payroll operations across Australia and New Zealand within a regional or global context.
- Deep understanding of global payroll best practices and implementation across multiple countries.
- Strong relationship management skills with third-party payroll service providers.
- Leadership ability focused on empowering teams without micromanagement.
- Proficiency in payroll and data tools such as SAP and Excel or Google Sheets.
- Analytical thinker with adept problem-solving capabilities.
- Flexibility and eagerness to excel within a fast-paced, international, and asynchronous work environment.
- Passion for improving productivity and process efficiency.
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.
- Remote work experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
Practical Details
- Location: APAC region with fully remote work setup.
- Team: Payroll Operations under a Senior Manager.
- Reporting Line: Reports directly to Senior Manager, Payroll Operations.
- Start Date: Immediate availability preferred.
Hiring Process
- Multiple interview stages including recruiter, team members, future manager, Senior Director of Payroll Operations, and a Bar Raiser interview.

Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary band for this position ranges from USD 46,500 to USD 104,650, adjusted based on location, skills, experience, and market factors.
