Position Overview
Databricks is revolutionizing the capabilities of organizations through data and AI. Serving as a unified platform for data-driven enterprises worldwide, it supports cloud migrations, AI innovation, and real-time analytics. As the Manager of Forward Deployed Engineering in New South Wales, you will lead a dynamic team of Forward Deployed and AI Engineers engaging with top enterprise clients across Australia to guide their transition to lakehouse architectures, develop next-gen AI and generative AI solutions, and help maximize value from data assets.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage regional operational objectives including billable utilization, team expansion, and recruitment while upholding superior delivery and client satisfaction standards within the ANZ Forward Deployed Engineering division.
- Oversee major enterprise projects by collaborating with Account Executives, Engagement Managers, and Field Engineering leaders to deliver transformative professional services programs such as data migrations, AI/ML platforms, and advanced analytics solutions.
- Implement rigorous project management practices including governance, risk assessment, and quality assurance to support scalable operations for the RSA and AI Engineering practices.
- Serve as the executive escalation contact for complex client issues, applying strong technical expertise and leadership skills to safeguard strategic partnerships and facilitate prompt problem resolution.
- Foster growth and retention of technical talent by mentoring Resident Solutions Architects and AI Engineers through defined career development, technical training, and promoting a culture of innovation and mastery.
Qualifications
- Minimum of four years' leadership experience managing technically skilled delivery teams or professional services groups with a focus on fostering a culture of excellence.
- At least five years of direct technical experience as a solutions architect or data/AI engineer to effectively guide senior technical staff.
- Proven success directing large-scale data platform transitions and AI/ML program executions in enterprise settings, particularly in industries like Finance, Healthcare, Retail, Telecommunications, or Energy.
- Excellent executive presence and ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships, influencing decisions at the senior corporate level.
- Understanding of Databricks, Apache Spark, MLflow, Delta Lake, and the modern data and AI ecosystem; practical experience with Databricks or competitive platforms is highly advantageous.
