About Qualcomm AI Research

Qualcomm AI Research is pioneering advancements in artificial intelligence, focusing on generative AI, foundation models, multi-modal generation (text, image, video), reasoning, reinforcement learning, and emphasizing efficient on-device intelligence. The Vietnam branch is pivotal in driving innovative research and system-level developments supporting Qualcomm's leadership in generative AI for mobile, automotive, XR, and robotics sectors.

Position Overview

This role offers positions from Senior to Senior Staff Engineer levels, seeking candidates with proven publication records in leading AI/ML forums and in-depth knowledge of generative AI, such as multi-modal foundation models, efficient architectures, LLM reasoning, reinforcement learning, autonomy, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and Agentic AI. Responsibilities include leading impactful research, collaborating with global teams, and progressing advanced models to practical applications. Senior candidates will also provide research leadership and mentor junior colleagues and AI Residents, advancing innovation aligned to Qualcomm’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform original research in efficient generative AI domains including LLMs, multi-modal foundation models, reasoning, reinforcement learning, RAG, and Agentic AI.
  • Guide research initiatives and provide technical leadership aligned with company goals.
  • Mentor junior researchers, AI Residents, and engineers to foster collaboration and achieve excellence in an R&D setting.
  • Drive efforts transitioning research insights into production-ready, commercially viable solutions.
  • Contribute actively to Qualcomm's strategic efforts in efficient AI and embedded intelligence.
  • Publish research outcomes in premier conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, ICCV, ACL, and EMNLP.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years relevant engineering experience or Master’s degree with 1+ year relevant experience or a PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related areas.
  • MSc or PhD preferred in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Established research excellence evidenced by publications in top AI/ML conferences.
  • Strong expertise in generative AI technologies including LLMs, multi-modal models, reasoning, and diffusion models, along with proficiency in optimization methods like quantization and distillation.
  • Practical experience in model development pipelines covering training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and optimization.
