About the Role
Join PM Group's Outsourced Technical Services (OTS) Department, supporting leading global clients in diverse industries. This Electrical Engineer position is based onsite at a client location in Cork, Ireland, where you will contribute to electrical design, coordination, and delivery across multidisciplinary pharmaceutical manufacturing projects. The role requires close collaboration with engineering, construction, commissioning, and quality teams to ensure electrical systems comply with safety, regulatory, and project standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, review and coordinate electrical design documents throughout project phases.
- Deliver electrical design outputs aligned with project scope, timelines, and industry standards.
- Prepare and maintain electrical engineering documentation such as single-line diagrams, load lists, power demand calculations, cable schedules, and containment routing.
- Design earthing and bonding systems; specify electrical equipment and datasheets.
- Assist in preparing technical specifications, procurement requisitions, and bid evaluations for electrical installations and equipment.
- Evaluate vendor drawings to ensure conformity with design intent and standards.
- Ensure all designs adhere to GMP requirements, IEC/IEEE/ETCI standards, and site-specific practices.
- Participate in design and constructability reviews, HAZOP studies, and risk assessments.
- Provide technical support during construction and commissioning, including RFI responses and resolution of design issues.
- Develop commissioning documentation and test procedures.
- Support quality assurance by managing traceability and document control in regulated project environments.
- Comply with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) guidelines throughout all activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
- At least 5 years of electrical engineering experience in industrial, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or comparable regulated settings.
- Proven expertise with low voltage power distribution, MCCs, electrical panels, lighting, small power systems, earthing, bonding, cable routing, containment, and termination.
- Knowledgeable about GMP guidelines and experienced in regulated manufacturing facilities.
- Understanding of ATEX and hazardous area requirements is an advantage.
- Experience supporting live site construction and commissioning phases.
- Proficient with Windows operating systems and engineering applications, including AutoCAD (preferred), Word, and Excel.
- Strong communication and coordination abilities to effectively collaborate with contractors, vendors, and project teams.
