The Cloud Data Technologies (CDT) team manages eBay's data infrastructure, covering the full data lifecycle from onsite data to analytics. We are looking for a Data Scientist to enhance decision-making through advanced data science techniques, including projects on machine learning for bot traffic detection and customer profiling, along with improving A/B testing methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex data science efforts from data analysis to model building and evaluation.
- Create and deploy sophisticated statistical and machine learning models to solve business challenges.
- Support experimentation and causal inference activities such as A/B and multivariate testing and refining testing methods.
- Use advanced SQL skills to handle large-scale datasets and optimize data queries efficiently.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify requirements and build data-driven solutions that facilitate better decisions.
- Contribute to machine learning projects including bot detection and customer segmentation.
- Stay informed about cutting-edge data science developments and recommend new technologies or methodologies to enhance current practices.
Candidate Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years relevant experience along with a master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related quantitative discipline.
- Proven expertise in constructing statistical and machine learning models and assessing their performance.
- Advanced proficiency in Python or R, including machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn and GBM.
- Strong command of SQL, with experience optimizing queries on large datasets.
- Experience working in cloud environments using Hadoop and Spark technologies.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and experience deploying machine learning models into production.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present complex results clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
