Role Summary

We are recruiting an experienced CNC Machinist Miller to operate and maintain precision CNC milling equipment within a fast-paced, research and development-focused environment. This role offers the opportunity to engage in complex multi-axis machining, crafting low-volume, high-value components and prototypes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and run multi-axis CNC machines (3, 4, and 5-axis milling).
  • Create and optimize machining processes, select tooling, and edit G-code programs.
  • Operate Heidenhain, Fanuc, and Siemens control systems to manufacture R&D and production parts accurately.
  • Adjust tooling, work offsets, and CNC programs as needed to maintain precision.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and follow specifications and procedures rigorously.
  • Inspect parts using measuring instruments, gauges, and interpret Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) outputs.
  • Support tooling and fixture design development and collaborate with engineering teams to enhance machining methods.
  • Troubleshoot machining and process-related challenges using problem-solving techniques.
  • Manage workload effectively to meet project deliverables.
  • Participate in daily team briefings to discuss objectives and continuous improvements.
  • Mentor apprentices and contribute to ongoing training and development.
  • Apply lean manufacturing and 6S principles in daily operations.

  • Generate clear work instructions, process flows, and change control documentation.
  • Implement and monitor corrective actions to ensure process improvements.
  • Coordinate with production planners to balance workload and delivery timelines.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should hold a high school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by specialized training or demonstrated expertise in relevant CNC machining functions. A minimum of three years’ experience in CNC machining is required.

Working Hours: The position is structured as 37.5 hours per week with an option for a 4-day workweek (Monday to Thursday). The role comes with competitive salary packages between £42,000 and £45,000 per annum alongside BUPA healthcare, employee benefits, and bonus incentives.

Equipment and Safety: Employees will be supplied with all necessary safety clothing, footwear, personal protective equipment (PPE), tooling, and gauging instruments required for the role.
