About the Role
Pinnacle Group Limited is seeking a dedicated Caretaker to join their Total Facilities Management team, ensuring smooth daily operations within a school setting. The key duties include maintaining the safety, security, and upkeep of school buildings and grounds through caretaking, maintenance, and repair tasks. This role requires hands-on involvement, practical skills, and a commitment to fostering a secure and welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors.
The Total Facilities Management division provides comprehensive asset management and maintenance services across multiple sectors including education, leisure, corporate, health, and residential. The focus is on maintaining facility operations to maximize safety and efficiency for clients.
Core Responsibilities
- Maintain security by locking/unlocking premises, conducting patrols, and managing site access.
- Perform routine caretaking such as litter removal, cleaning, minor repairs, and decoration.
- Execute preventative maintenance tasks as scheduled and according to skill level.
- Handle reactive maintenance requests, carrying out temporary or permanent repairs as needed.
- Assist contractors and service providers by granting access, escorting, and communicating effectively.
- Respond to emergencies like floods and spillages promptly.
- Prepare rooms and facilities for assemblies and school events.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities including plant rooms, boilers, drains, and other assets.
- Monitor site appearance and identify necessary maintenance or defects.
- Support extracurricular arrangements such as school lettings and out-of-hours access.
Qualifications and Skills
- Prior experience in caretaking, facilities management, building maintenance, or related roles.
- Hands-on skills in general DIY, minor plumbing, carpentry, and basic electrical work.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a professional and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritize work, and respond proactively to issues.
- Flexible mindset and enthusiasm for acquiring new skills through training and development.
Employment Details
This is a full-time, Monday to Friday position operating on a shift basis with hours either 06:30–14:30 or 10:30–18:30, covering three school sites in Slough. Employment is contingent on passing a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check due to the school environment.
