About the Role

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Bottle Depot Processor / Laborer to join the Victoria, British Columbia team. The primary responsibility is to safely collect, sort, and prepare recyclable materials for shipment in an efficient manner, ensuring compliance with operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Address customer questions and resolve complaints professionally.
• Sort refundable items according to company-specific processing policies.
• Inform customers about the variety of accepted recyclable products.
• Package and load materials correctly for shipment.
• Identify and troubleshoot issues related to product processing.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving product return programs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Experience in customer service roles, including handling cash transactions.
• Strong interpersonal skills to establish rapport with clients.
• Capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Forklift operation experience.
• Professional and positive attitude.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
• Familiarity with the local city and its geography.
• Industry knowledge is an advantage.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift in outdoor work settings about 90% of the time.
• Capable of lifting or moving up to 65 pounds independently, and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Exposure to loud noise, varying weather conditions including rain, storms, hot and cold climates, and potential contact with chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
• Primary work environment is outdoors, potentially 100% of the time.
