Role Overview
We are seeking a Staff Software Developer to join our IntelliJ Platform team to lead the development and enhancement of features that redefine programming productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and evolution of the plugin ecosystem—both internal and third-party—focusing on remote development and UI tooling by establishing clear and minimal APIs, crafting detailed documentation, and defining the team's quality benchmarks.
- Redesign and modernize several core platform subsystems to support current demands, including making configuration settings flexible and transferable across different environments such as remote or developer-provisioned systems.
- Plan and execute processes related to the deprecation lifecycle of the IntelliJ Platform API, ensuring smooth transitions and backward compatibility.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated extensive experience in system architecture and platform design.
- Strong proficiency in JVM concurrency models and practices.
- Hands-on experience with Kotlin coroutines.
- Excellent skills in technical writing and producing comprehensive documentation.
- Analytical and critical thinking abilities with forward-looking architectural planning.
- Capability to lead and execute large-scale refactoring in monolithic repositories.
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience in developing developer-centric tools.
- Familiarity with various UI frameworks.
- Understanding of database internals.
- Experience working on network-based applications.
