Senior Engineering Manager, Android Application Safety

Overview and Qualifications

Google is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the development and protection of the Android ecosystem by combating malware, privacy breaches, and abusive content through AI-powered infrastructure. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with significant expertise in software development and technical leadership focused on machine learning infrastructure and anti-abuse efforts. Preference will be given to applicants with the right to work in Singapore without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the continual advancement of the review platform that supports thousands of human reviewers in safeguarding the Android app marketplace.
• Forge close partnerships with technical leads and leaders across global teams to set project goals, define direction, and prioritize initiatives.
• Lead and evaluate system design approaches and personally contribute to product and system code development to resolve challenges.
• Diagnose and manage the resolution of product or system issues by analyzing underlying causes affecting hardware, network, or service quality.
• Perform code reviews for engineering peers, providing constructive feedback to uphold standards relating to style, accuracy, test coverage, and efficiency.

Preferred Background

• Advanced degrees such as a Master's or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical disciplines.
• Extensive experience (five or more years) working within complex organizational structures.
• Demonstrated background in anti-abuse and safety related roles.
