Job description
Position Overview
This is a replacement position for a Materials Controller role at GM 23%, reporting directly to the Regional Team Lead or Onsite Service Manager. The role involves supporting daily site inventory operations including inventory management, stock movement, metric analysis, purchasing, receiving, storeroom oversight, product delivery, and other customer service tasks. The Materials Controller acts as the primary contact for incoming deliveries and coordinates internal order preparation and distribution.
Key Duties
- Maintain and prepare stock for detailed storage accurately.
- Inspect deliveries for damaged or missing items.
- Receive daily inbound shipments and resolve any delivery discrepancies.
- Manage Point of Use activities and review Kanban cycles.
- Handle stock movements manually or using machinery while coordinating around location constraints.
- Ensure goods are delivered to customer locations efficiently.
- Keep accurate records of stock movements.
- Facilitate orders for consumable inventory replenishment via Avantor ordering systems.
- Maintain 5S/6S standards at customer inventory sites.
- Execute customer site-specific activities according to Statements of Work and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Handle hazardous materials in compliance with requirements.
- Conduct daily cycle counts and investigate any inventory discrepancies.
- Manage ad-hoc requests such as batches, certificates, and safety documentation (COA, COC, MSDS).
- Review usage consumption and provide daily flagged reports.
- Monitor slow-moving stock, provision stock, and generate ad-hoc site-level inventory reports.
- Collaborate with the customer site lead to manage Bill of Material inventory onsite.
- Identify and implement value-added services.
- Utilize Avantor’s computer systems including SAP, Excel, PowerPoint, and proprietary inventory software.
- Manage recycling of packaging in alignment with site or Avantor policies.
- Meet service objectives related to safety, performance, and quality.
- Perform safety audits within Avantor service areas.
- Serve as the point of contact for inventory program audits.
- Work with Department Manager to set goals and take ownership under Avantor’s performance process.
- Document inventory Bill of Material change requests as necessary.
- Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.
Candidate Profile
- 1 to 3 years of experience in material handling, inventory replenishment, warehouse operations, or customer service.
- Possession of Leaving Certificate educational qualification.
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to work well collaboratively within teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Flexibility to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities regularly.
- Essential experience in stores, warehouse, and stock management.
- Demonstrated teamwork, loyalty, and organizational commitment.
- Willingness to adapt working hours when necessary to meet service demands.
- Self-motivated, energetic, dependable with precise attention to detail.
- Capability to collaborate with diverse teams and manage multiple internal and external stakeholders in a matrix environment.
- Open to adopting best practices and industry innovations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and outstanding communication at all levels.
- Proficiency in data capture, analysis, and reporting through various IT systems.
- Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Manual handling and chemical awareness training viewed as advantages.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma process improvement and project coordination is beneficial.
