Role Summary
The Technology team at Revolut is responsible for creating the backbone systems and features behind its cutting-edge financial app. The Lead Backend Engineer role, particularly within the Single Sign-On (SSO) team, focuses on developing clean, maintainable Java microservices that support authentication across Revolut's product ecosystem, emphasizing test-driven development (TDD), domain-driven design (DDD), and continuous integration/delivery methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop microservices to advance Revolut's architecture.
- Enhance vital systems that facilitate business operations, including those related to risk management, fraud detection, and payment processing.
- Drive greenfield initiatives and improve existing backend systems.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Strong expertise in Java programming language (Java 17/21 preferred).
- Minimum of six years' experience in backend development.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related discipline.
- Proven ability to rapidly learn, ambitious mindset, and results-oriented approach.
- Effective collaboration skills within fast-paced team environments.
- Excellent communication and organizational capabilities.
- Fluency in English language.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with Kotlin or Scala languages.
- Background in financial technology or fintech sectors.
- Experience working in startup or scale-up companies.
- Product-centric development environment experience.
Technology Stack
The technical environment includes Java 17/21, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, Grafana, Prometheus, NewRelic, PostgreSQL, Redis, Spock testing framework, jOOQ, and Flyway.
