About the Role

The Custodian position at Cotton Holdings Inc. based in Sumter, SC, is integral to maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and aesthetic upkeep of company premises. With a rate of $12.00 per hour, this role ensures a safe, healthy, and professional environment by executing routine and in-depth cleaning tasks across dining halls, kitchens, offices, and general shared areas. The custodian supports the facility’s overall condition through daily and weekly cleaning schedules and managing supply inventory.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Keep buildings, dining spaces, restrooms, and communal areas tidy and organized.
• Conduct routine and intensive cleaning procedures such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, and dusting.
• Collect and dispose of trash and other waste materials responsibly.
• Clean, sanitize, and replenish items in restroom facilities.
• Wash windows, mirrors, partitions, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment utilizing approved cleaning products and methods.
• Perform carpet and rug shampooing or steam cleaning as necessary.
• Operate cleaning machines and tools safely and efficiently.
• Prepare and apply cleaning solutions and chemicals per company guidelines and safety standards.
• Adhere to established protocols when using chemical cleaners and power equipment to avoid damage.
• Track and maintain adequate levels of cleaning supplies and equipment inventory.
• Communicate supply deficiencies, maintenance issues, or needed repairs to management promptly.
• Contribute to special cleaning projects and other operational support tasks as assigned.

Candidate Qualifications

• Prior experience in custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or facility cleaning roles is advantageous.
• Possession of a High School Diploma or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
• Basic proficiency in English is mandatory; bilingual skills (Spanish/English) are an added benefit.
• Experience in dining, kitchen, or food service cleaning environments is desirable.
• Understanding of custodial and sanitation best practices.
• Knowledge of proper chemical handling and familiarity with cleaning equipment safety.
• Awareness of workplace cleanliness and safety protocols.
• Familiarity with various cleaning methods suited for different surfaces.
• Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities.
• Customer service-oriented approach with professionalism and positivity.
• Adeptness at comprehending and following both oral and written instructions.
