Application Development & Maintenance Architect

About the Role

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is seeking a highly experienced Application Development & Maintenance (ADM) Architect with over 10 years of professional expertise. The successful candidate will specialize in Java and enterprise application architecture while also having substantial knowledge of data engineering, data architecture, and cloud technologies. This leadership role is based in Chennai or Bangalore and focuses on designing, modernizing, and supporting large-scale enterprise applications with a focus on scalability, resilience, and security.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the comprehensive technical architecture for enterprise ADM applications and platforms.
• Create scalable solutions utilizing Java, Spring Boot, microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven design principles.
• Develop modernization plans including transitioning from monolithic to microservices architectures and cloud migration strategies.
• Architect application, integration, data, and cloud layers applying best practices and standards.
• Analyze current applications to identify prospects for modernization, improving performance, reducing technical debt, and minimizing costs.
• Design and manage API, integration, caching, messaging, and asynchronous process architectures.
• Collaborate with Data Architects and Engineering teams on data modeling, integration pipelines, database systems, and analytics platform implementations.
• Provide architectural oversight for relational databases, NoSQL, data lakes, and cloud-native data storage.
• Define and promote cloud-native application architectures using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform services.
• Champion containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Set architecture and engineering standards addressing scalability, availability, resilience, observability, security, and maintainability.
• Mentor engineering teams on design patterns, coding guidelines, DevSecOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and preparing systems for production deployment.
• Conduct architecture and design reviews, providing technical direction to developers and support personnel.
• Assist in resolving complex technical challenges through root cause analysis, performance tuning, and production problem management.
• Work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, Data, and Enterprise Architecture teams to align efforts.
• Guide and mentor technical leads and senior engineers fostering strong engineering culture and capabilities across ADM teams.

Eligibility

Applicants should be graduates of any discipline and possess a minimum of ten years' experience focused on Java and enterprise applications. Proven familiarity with data engineering, data architecture, and cloud platforms is essential.
