Senior Software Engineer, Database

Role Overview

Join Demonware's Database team as a Senior Software Engineer to develop scalable and reliable online services utilized by millions worldwide. This full-time position is based onsite in Dublin, Ireland, with a work schedule of four days per week, subject to future adjustments based on company needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Enhance and maintain the database tooling platform, improving the self-service model and adapting it for cloud technologies.
• Collaborate with internal teams managing database technology to meet their requirements promptly.
• Lead the architecture and software development efforts focused on maximizing reliability for both players and internal clients.
• Ensure scalability and maintainability of all software components and tools.
• Take ownership of the development and delivery of key features, components, and tooling.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the design of solutions by peers within the team.
• Support customer-facing teams in deploying new features to game studio partners and offer consultancy worldwide.
• Work alongside engineers to resolve technology challenges and deliver excellent customer experiences.
• Mentor colleagues on best practices and methodologies for database tooling development and integration.

Candidate Profile

• At least 7 years of experience in software engineering, including roles in critical production environments.
• Strong programming skills with proficiency in multiple languages, notably Python.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and building tooling for engineering teams, with a clear understanding of well-crafted APIs and tools.
• Background in database design and management, including MySQL and NoSQL technologies.
• Familiarity with container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration across teams.
• Solid grasp of networking protocols such as TCP, HTTP, and TLS.
• Ability to analyze requirements and make informed design decisions.
• Keen investigative mindset and enthusiasm for learning emerging technologies.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and ability to work independently on complex tasks.
• Positive, collaborative attitude towards team collaboration and support.

Additional Advantages

• Experience with Golang software development.
• Knowledge of continuous integration systems and agile development practices.
• Background in building backend services, including RESTful APIs, and using Linux and other open-source tools.
• Experience supporting large-scale services serving millions of simultaneous users.
