Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team focused on the operation and improvement of our large hydro and wind power sites. This role offers technical leadership across complex projects involving capital upgrades, plant maintenance, compliance, and asset management. You will guide and mentor less experienced engineers and collaborate closely with seasoned professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technically challenging electrical engineering projects within our generation business unit.
• Manage tasks ranging from maintenance and asset management to project commissioning and compliance adherence.
• Address both large-scale capital improvements as well as rapid response to plant breakdown situations.
• Support and develop emerging engineers through coaching and leadership.
• Work primarily from the office with occasional advance-notified site visits.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Demonstrated experience in consulting or engineering sectors, particularly in power generation, transmission, or heavy electrical environments.
• Knowledge of project delivery processes, regulatory compliance in the electrical industry, asset management principles, and health and safety standards.
• A proactive mindset to take ownership and extend technical leadership beyond traditional boundaries.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and influence skills.

Additional Information

This position is based in Christchurch or Twizel, with flexibility for other locations for exceptional candidates.
