Role Overview

The position calls for an experienced Senior Developer with extensive hands-on expertise in Dotmatics. The role involves collaborating with global biopharma clients to transform scientific workflows into reliable Dotmatics solutions by handling requirements analysis, configuration, customization, integrations, upgrades, and go-live processes. Experience with Benchling or other ELN/LIMS platforms is considered a significant advantage. This role is client-facing and delivery-driven, situated within the Scientific Informatics practice.

Key Duties

  • Design, configure, and implement Dotmatics solutions that address clients’ scientific and business workflow needs.
  • Provide support for related ELN/LIMS platforms like Benchling, Revvity Signals, LabVantage, and LabWare as needed by client projects.
  • Gather and analyze requirements from scientists, laboratory managers, and IT personnel, turning those requirements into functional and technical designs.
  • Create customizations, scripts, and extensions using platform-specific toolkits and APIs such as Dotmatics scripting and REST APIs, Benchling API/Apps.
  • Develop and maintain integrations with laboratory instruments and enterprise systems including SAP, CDS, SDMS, registration systems, and data lakes.
  • Lead data migration efforts from legacy systems to target ELN/LIMS platforms.
  • Support validation activities for computer systems and produce documentation compliant with GxP, GAMP 5, and 21 CFR Part 11 standards.
  • Mentor junior developers, conduct code reviews, and help establish best practices, accelerators, and reusable assets within the Lab Informatics team.
  • Engage directly with client teams across different time zones providing status updates and demonstrations to stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biotechnology, chemistry, or a related field.
  • 8 to 10 years overall professional experience, including a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience configuring, customizing, and deploying Dotmatics in client or enterprise settings.
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages relevant to the platform such as Python, Java, Groovy, JavaScript/TypeScript, or LIMS Basic.
  • Strong practical knowledge with REST APIs, JSON/XML, and integration techniques for laboratory and enterprise systems.
  • Good understanding of laboratory workflows in research and development or quality control environments, including sample management, test execution, result documentation, stability studies, batch release, and research data capture.
  • Experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and solid SQL skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities and a proven track record of directly collaborating with scientists and global client stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Benchling platform, including configuration, Benchling Apps, or API integrations alongside Dotmatics.
  • Familiarity with other ELN/LIMS platforms such as Revvity Signals, LabVantage, LabWare, or related systems including SDMS, CDS (Empower, Chromeleon), or scientific data platforms.
  • Cloud experience with providers like AWS or Azure, including deployment and DevOps practices for SaaS or hosted lab solutions.
  • Relevant certifications or vendor training in Dotmatics or Benchling ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, tools like Jira and Confluence, and continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines.
  • Previous consulting or service delivery experience in life sciences is an asset.
