Job Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Backend Developer skilled in Rust to join a client's innovative team. This contract role offers a fully remote working environment based in Ireland. The incumbent will be instrumental in architecting and enhancing the backend APIs that support advanced AI research initiatives while collaborating with a top-tier engineering squad.
Primary Duties
- Construct and fine-tune REST and GraphQL endpoints for scalable, robust APIs.
- Implement and uphold rigorous data validation, error handling, and security protocols within backend services.
- Manage database migrations, optimize performance, and oversee schema adjustments as necessary.
- Conduct thorough testing of AI-driven models within the Cursor environment, providing comprehensive feedback including incident reports, bug diagnostics, and illustrative screenshots.
- Participate in focused four-day testing sprints to assess AI model impacts on developer coding workflows.
- Collaborate actively with the AI research team via a dedicated communication channel to share observations and suggest enhancements.
- Complete detailed surveys after each testing phase, evaluating model effectiveness and developer experience.
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum five years professional experience in backend development with strong specialization in Rust programming.
- Proficient in architecting and sustaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
- Expert in backend system practices including data validation, effective error management, and API security.
- Experience with database schema design, migrations, and system tuning for optimized backends.
- Familiarity with AI coding assistance tools; experience with Cursor is highly advantageous.
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities, especially in reporting bugs and incidents clearly.
- Demonstrated capacity to perform effectively in dynamic, confidential remote team environments.
