Transport Assistant

Overview

Our client, a leading logistics firm, is looking for a meticulous and well-organized Transport Assistant to enhance their operational team in Tema, Ghana. This role is critical for managing vehicle assignments and ensuring efficient load handling with adherence to quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operational tasks of assigned drivers throughout load processes.
• Conduct routine physical checks, accompany drivers, and perform on-site supervision to uphold safety, professionalism, and compliance with company protocols.
• Oversee load management for allocated trucks to guarantee smooth operations.
• Track vehicles to verify adherence to company policies, safety norms, and load specifications.
• Coordinate activities relating to third-party vehicles and drivers consistent with operational demands.
• Maintain steady communication with designated drivers and external partners, monitoring their performance and escalating issues as needed.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure synergy with third-party partners.
• Assist in recruiting and integrating third-party transport providers and drivers.
• Identify and recommend dependable third-party partners meeting company standards.
• Provide basic training, guidance, and ongoing operational support to assigned drivers.
• Monitor key performance indicators and offer constructive feedback to encourage continuous development.
• Compile regular performance reports and dashboards for assigned vehicles.
• Keep detailed and current records of vehicles, drivers, and operations.
• Carry out additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or related disciplines.
• Two to four years of experience in transport operations, logistics, fleet management, or equivalent within the transport sector.
• Thorough understanding of Ghana’s transport sector, including third-party logistics, regulatory compliance, and route planning.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with partners and drivers.
• Strong organizational capabilities and meticulous attention to detail for managing multiple vehicles.
• Proficiency in both written and spoken English.
• Comfortable with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledgeable in transport management and vehicle tracking software.
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout Ghana as required.
