Job description
Overview
This hybrid position is based in Seccl’s offices located in Holborn, London or George Street, Edinburgh. Seccl is an Octopus-owned embedded investment platform focused on democratizing investment opportunities and enhancing investment experiences. Their technology supports several leading UK fintechs, banks, financial advisers, and wealth management firms, with nearly one million investors dependent on Seccl-powered solutions. The company is growing steadily with plans to expand across Europe and aims to replace outdated investment infrastructure with scalable, streamlined technology backed by Octopus— a successful UK investment and tech group with a shared focus on profit and purpose.
Role Responsibilities
- Manage complete recruitment cycles for numerous open positions, concentrating primarily on Product and Engineering teams but adaptable to assist with other departments as priorities dictate.
- Develop robust candidate pipelines using direct sourcing, agency collaboration, inventive search strategies, and engaging communication.
- Ensure recruitment processes progress efficiently by identifying and resolving obstacles early, maintaining momentum for candidates and hiring teams alike.
- Work closely with hiring managers and leadership to clarify recruitment needs, provide market feedback, and facilitate evidence-based hiring decisions.
- Uphold high recruitment standards and promote an inclusive, smooth candidate experience without unnecessary procedural complexity.
- Utilize recruitment data and insights to enhance hiring outcomes, contributing practical suggestions to the talent lead and the broader People team.
Candidate Profile and Expectations
- Proven expertise managing end-to-end recruitment for multiple active vacancies simultaneously.
- Diverse experience recruiting within Product and Engineering sectors, including enough technical insight and market knowledge to engage effectively with hiring teams.
- Skilled in direct sourcing tactics and building relationships with high-quality candidates.
- Highly organized, delivery-driven, proactive, and able to maintain hiring momentum independently.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting rapidly to shifting company priorities.
- Capable of providing constructive challenges to hiring managers while maintaining a pragmatic approach to progress decisions.
- Open to recruiting beyond core specializations when business needs require, ideally with experience in high-growth or scaling organizations.
Important Considerations
- This hands-on recruitment role requires active involvement in live hiring processes rather than purely strategic or project-based work.
- Flexibility is essential to adapt effectively as priorities and processes may evolve rapidly.
- The role expects partnership in recruitment decisions, offering expertise and guidance but ultimately leaving final hiring authority with hiring managers.
- Relying solely on inbound candidates or agency pipelines is discouraged; proactive sourcing is a key responsibility.
Benefits and Culture
- Salary range: £55,000 to £65,000 annually with yearly reviews.
- Employer pension contribution of 6% and life insurance coverage.
- 27 days of vacation plus bank holidays, birthday leave, and paid dependent leave.
- Two paid volunteering days annually.
- Opportunity to work abroad for up to six weeks per year.
- Recognition program (Secclbrate) providing flexible rewards including extra pay, additional holidays, and increased learning budget.
- A paid sabbatical month after eight years of service.
- Private medical insurance from AXA Health.
- Enhanced parental leave policies.
- Company-provided MacBook and up to £500 for home office setup.
- Annual learning budget of £750.
- Health and wellness support including free therapy via Wellness Cloud and mental health resources through Headspace.
- Financial benefits including Octopus Money, share incentive plans, and will writing services through Octopus Legacy.
- Access to Perkbox with discounts and perks and participation in Cycle to Work plus Octopus Electric Vehicle Leasing programs.
Company Culture
Seccl prioritizes its people by fostering an environment where employees feel trusted, valued, and able to perform at their best. The company encourages openness, curiosity, and diverse ideas, empowering employees to challenge existing methods, explore new approaches, and take ownership of their work.
Interview Process
- Initial competency-based interview with the talent lead.
- Second interview with Head of People and Talent Lead focusing on recruitment skills, potentially including a case study or live task.
- Final cultural fit interview lasting 45 minutes with two key stakeholders.
