Role Overview

The Senior Cloud Security Engineer role encompasses ownership of enhancing and safeguarding AlphaSense's cloud infrastructures. This position offers autonomy in choosing focus areas and leading security initiatives from concept through implementation and monitoring. This hands-on role demands strong cloud security expertise and the ability to work independently on security projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, develop, and automate security controls within AWS and GCP cloud environments.
• Maintain and improve cloud security tooling including posture management and vulnerability platforms.
• Identify security vulnerabilities and drive their resolution in cloud infrastructure.
• Implement access management and zero-trust strategies for cloud and Kubernetes systems.
• Collaborate with incident response teams to develop detection capabilities and aid in incident mitigation.
• Establish security standards and embed them into engineering workflows like CI/CD and GitOps.
• Ensure compliance with standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, and GDPR by converting requirements into technical safeguards.
• Perform architecture evaluations, threat modeling, and security code reviews to uncover risks in coordination with product and engineering teams.
• Lead security projects independently by planning and executing cross-team efforts to achieve tangible results.

Qualifications

Essential:

• Over five years’ experience in cloud security or security-focused infrastructure or DevOps roles.
• Proven expertise working with containerized environments and Kubernetes security.
• Strong knowledge of AWS and preferably GCP with proficiency in infrastructure as code.
• Skilled in programming or scripting languages such as Python for automation tasks.
• Experience with cloud security posture management or similar tools.
• Self-motivated individual able to independently manage tasks and communicate effectively across teams.

Desirable:

• Familiarity with multi-cloud environments combining AWS and GCP.
• Experience integrating security practices into CI/CD and DevOps/GitOps pipelines.
• Hands-on expertise with threat modeling and undertaking security architecture reviews.
• Understanding of compliance obligations and implementation of corresponding technical controls.
• Contributions to security communities or open-source projects and relevant certifications like Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS).
