Job description
Job Overview
We invite you to contribute to innovation by shaping the architecture and engineering of cloud applications and platforms. This role impacts the design, construction, and operational aspects of enterprise systems, offering career growth, leadership opportunities, and a collaborative environment that champions creativity, inclusion, and high technical standards.
Role Summary
As an Executive Director and Principal Software Engineer within Infrastructure Platform Cloud Foundations Applied Architecture, you will spearhead the creation and deployment of scalable, reliable, and secure cloud-native platforms on public clouds such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. You will establish architectural references, best practice standards, and platform guidelines while actively engaging in design and implementation. Your responsibilities include mentoring engineering teams and integrating generative and agentic AI technologies to boost productivity.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead development of cloud-native applications and infrastructure across major public cloud providers.
- Establish standards and enable features for generative and agentic AI to support multi-cloud management and intelligent automation.
- Design microservices, event-driven systems, APIs, and distributed cloud solutions.
- Govern AI-augmented engineering workflows using authorized enterprise tools to accelerate delivery and improve code quality, establishing validation, security, resiliency, and reuse controls.
- Leverage tools from the Software Development Life Cycle, including AI-assisted automation, to maximize automation benefits at scale.
- Integrate architecture governance, guardrails, and reusable patterns early in workflows.
- Promote operational excellence through robust monitoring, logging, tracing, and Site Reliability Engineering practices.
- Translate enterprise architecture directives into actionable platform capabilities.
- Collaborate with architects, engineering teams, product owners, risk, security, and business stakeholders.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Extensive hands-on experience with public cloud application and platform architecture (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Apply Well-Architected Frameworks covering compute, storage, networking, serverless, containers, API gateways, messaging, and data services.
- Design and implement internal developer platforms and reusable infrastructure patterns.
- Expertise in distributed systems, event-driven architectures, REST/gRPC APIs, and resilient cloud applications.
- Proven track record leading adoption of AI-enabled development practices, including governance frameworks for validation, traceability, and secure data handling.
- Strong knowledge of responsible AI usage, security, resiliency considerations, data sensitivity, and governance compliance; ability to influence technical leadership on scaling strategies.
- Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go, along with cloud-native development frameworks.
- Implement architecture guidance, governance controls, and policy-as-code within development workflows.
- Champion observability, operational excellence, and cost-effective cloud management.
- Lead teams, define architecture direction, providing credible technical leadership.
- Utilize generative and agentic AI technologies in engineering workflows, including prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), large language model orchestration, and AI-assisted coding tools.
- Advanced skills with AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code) and Agentic Runtime environments (e.g., Agent Runtime, AgentCore, Agent Service).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working across multiple major public cloud platforms, managing distributed systems at scale.
- Implement cloud security guardrails and ensure compliance with data privacy standards.
- Background in architecture within financial services or regulated industries.
- Familiarity with structured engineering methodologies such as Specification-Driven and Test-Driven Development.
- Experience with open agentic AI frameworks, including custom multi-channel/multi-cloud processing (MCP) server or tool development.
