Overview
Fidelity Investments' Workplace Investing division is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join their equity compensation recordkeeping platform team based in Galway. This role is pivotal in accelerating the delivery of innovative global capabilities for Stock Plan Services (SPS), impacting over 500 Fortune 1000 clients. The successful candidate will lead engineering efforts focused primarily on backend responsibilities, driving improvements and expanding new functionality.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership to a team developing and enhancing scalable backend services for the equity compensation platform.
- Collaborate effectively with tech leads, product managers, quality engineers, support, and operations teams to deliver global, real-time recordkeeping and reporting solutions.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of a modern, cloud-ready application stack emphasizing business intelligence features.
- Set development standards and best coding practices for the engineering team while fostering a positive learning culture.
- Own quality, execution, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure high performance and stability of applications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technology-related discipline such as Computer Science or Engineering.
- At least 8 years of experience in Java EE development on high-volume enterprise systems.
- Strong ability in developing Java middle-tier REST services and working with enterprise messaging platforms like ActiveMQ and Kafka.
- Proficiency with PL/SQL and writing complex database queries.
- Thorough understanding of relational database management systems.
- Experience with cloud computing concepts and DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines within Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Demonstrated leadership experience guiding engineering teams and managing project deliveries.
