Job description
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Full-Time Store Associate to join our team in Brookings, SD. This role involves various tasks including stocking, merchandising, cashiering, and maintaining store cleanliness to ensure an excellent customer experience. The position averages 30+ hours per week with an initial hourly wage starting at $18.00, with incremental raises in subsequent years.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate and uphold all customer service standards, escalating any customer concerns to management as needed.
- Notify management about losses caused by expired or damaged inventory.
- Use the point-of-sale system accurately for scanning purchases and report any scanning issues to management.
- Comply with cash handling policies and procedures.
- Manage checkout lines efficiently, opening additional lanes to reduce wait times.
- Stock shelves and displays neatly in line with merchandising plans to boost sales.
- Fulfill curbside pickup orders by retrieving products, confirming order accuracy, and delivering items promptly to customers at their vehicles.
- Maintain store zone and merchandising standards consistently.
- Support management in reaching operational efficiency and loss prevention goals.
- Follow all company policies and safety guidelines to sustain a safe work environment.
- Adhere to inventory management and product handling protocols.
- Perform cleaning duties to maintain store standards.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform movements such as pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, reaching, grasping, twisting, bending, and moving within the store premises.
- Capability to lift and place inventory weighing up to 45 pounds at shelf heights, including overhead areas.
- Operate store equipment including cash registers, electric/manual hand jacks, floor scrubbers, and cardboard balers.
- Work in varied temperature environments such as freezers and coolers.
- Use glass and multipurpose cleaning products safely.
Qualifications
- Provide prompt, courteous customer service at all times.
- Competently operate store equipment like cash registers, floor scrubbers, pallet jacks, computers, and handheld devices.
- Understand and apply store operational policies and procedures effectively.
- Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Perform basic math operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Follow instructions closely and pay attention to details.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Organize tasks, prioritize workload, and meet designated productivity goals within set timeframes.
- Maintain punctual and reliable attendance and meet scheduling requirements.
Education and Experience
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Prior retail experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting wage of $18.00 per hour with increases to $18.50 (year 2), $19.00 (years 3 and 4), and $20.00 (year 5).
