Role Overview
As a Fleet Inspector in the Central West region—based in Dubbo, Parkes, or Orange—you will conduct specialized inspections of earthmoving machinery, construction plant, trucks, and equipment owned, leased, or hired by Transport NSW. These inspections emphasize safety compliance and operational standards across regional NSW worksites. The position combines office and field responsibilities, involves significant interstate travel including overnight stays, and occasional meetings in Sydney.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough specialist inspections and audits focusing on safety and compliance of Transport NSW's fleet assets across regional locations.
- Support procurement processes ensuring new fleet equipment meets technical specifications and safety criteria.
- Provide expert technical advice relating to fleet asset requirements.
- Assist in investigating incidents, conducting root cause analyses on significant repairs.
- Collaborate with Managers and Engineers on the management and administration of truck and plant leasing contracts.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Trade qualification in fields linked to earthmoving plant, equipment, or heavy vehicle maintenance.
- Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience with maintenance and inspection of earthmoving machinery, trucks, and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail with abilities to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, electrical, hydraulic, and workshop manuals.
- Current and unrestricted MR driver's licence in NSW.
- Proven ability to work independently, with excellent communication skills to engage professionally with customers, teams, and suppliers.
- Willingness to work outside standard hours and travel frequently across NSW.

- Salary range for the position is $122,570 to $131,527 per year.
